Next month, on the 10th of October, it is World Mental Health Day and we are proud to say that we support positive mental health and the wellbeing of our team.
Last month Hollie Booth, our Office Manager, attended a Mental Health First Aid course and is now a qualified Mental Health First Aider. It’s important to us that the team know that Hollie is there to speak to confidentially should they be struggling with stress or their mental health. For those who don’t find it as easy to ask for help, Hollie is now trained to be able to spot the early signs.
Hollie commented, “The course really opened my mind to how many different types of mental health issues there are and how many different ways there are to approach them. It was interesting to hear from people who had suffered from poor mental health, what they went through; it definitely gives you a different thought process about mental health. It is amazing how much help there is now for people and the different routes that you can access that help.
I’ve had people close to me suffer with poor mental health in the past and I wanted to have this training so that I can better support them in the future and also to be able to spot the early signs to get them the help they need.
Now I’m trained I intend to practice what I’ve learnt in my role at National Maintenance to ensure that we’re looking after our team in the best way that we can.”
